Island Escapes: Family Vacation Discounts to Antigua & Cancun

Posted By CitiesCheap on November 20, 2009

@Elfay passed me this first lead, which would be a good thing, only now I want to go to the Caribbean….

I don’t have a big family, but if I did, I’d check out BigFamilyVacations.com. What a good idea—the site tracks deals for family vacations with five or more kids. One that made the cut is a Kids Stay, Eat & Play Free package at The Gran Caribe Real in Cancun or The Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen. The short version is if you book by April 30, 2010, kids stay & eat free, even over the winter holidays. The promo is good for up two two children age 12 & under sharing an adult’s double-occupied suite and up to three kids age 12 & under sharing the Gran Master Suite. Sounds like a good time to invite the grandparents along for a vacation. Teens 13-17 can share the room too, but you’ll have to pay for them—their stay is only 40% off.

Prefer Antigua? Check out the Family Time package at two Green Globe luxury resorts—The Verandah Resort & Spa and St. James’ Club & Villas. This deal is good for a family like mine; we prefer to have the kids sleep in a separate room. If you book an all-inclusive stay by December 31, 2009 for travel from January 3-April 14, 2010, you can save 50% on a second room. Plus, the package includes a “Family Time” outing, from a Catamaran day trip with the kids to dinner out or spa treatments without them. And the kids aren’t necessarily kids—ages 2-22 qualify.

Speaking of the Caribbean, if you’re planning an bit an island escape, check out Caribbean on the Cheap before you book your trip. Travel writer Dale Leatherman & photographer Donnelle Oxley have spent the better part of the last 25 years exploring the Caribbean (I envy their jobs…), & they use their expertise to keep you informed about the best deals for visiting the islands.
